Ceiba speciosa of Floss Silk Tree
The Ceiba speciosa sheds its leaves in dry season. After rainseason or regular irrigation the tree grows out fast. The flowers are pink. Branches grow horisontally and the thick trunck has the form of a bottle. Young tree truncks are green and turns grey as it grows older. The tree is related to the Kapok tree (like the 'oldest' tree in Curaçao in 'Hoffi pastoor' in Barber), but also to the Boabab tree.
Because of its size the tree needs a lot of space.
